Superlexa teaches Spanish and French through stories, starting with the connections to English that are already there.
Start with recognition
Think of Spanish hospital, natural, or chocolate. You can already find your way into these words. Our starting stories are built with more than 80% cognates, giving English speakers familiar places to begin.
That percentage describes how we design our starting stories; it isn't a guarantee that every reader will understand every sentence. Pronunciation, grammar, and context still bring new things to learn.
Give unfamiliar words a history
A translation tells you what a word means. A connection gives you another way to remember it. Spanish mano means “hand.” It shares its Latin ancestry with the English words manual and manuscript: a link between hands, doing things by hand, and writing by hand.
We distinguish real word origins from simple memory aids. Similar spelling alone doesn't prove a shared origin—or the same meaning.

In the app, select a word when you need its meaning. Listen to the narration. Save words you want to revisit. Then return to the story.
